Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by Katie M — 28 Aug 2008
I don't even know what to say or where to start about this film, it literally leaves you speechless. Unbelieveably great, horrifying, painful, beautiful and moving all at the same time. Meryl Streep is literally unrecognizeable she is so good as Sophie, she completely becomes her.
The same with Kevin Kline as Nathan and Peter MacNicol as Stingo. I read the book as well, and they completely brought it to life as I pictured. Just when you think it cannot get any more painful, the 'choice' occurs and it literally took my breath away.
It is not a film that I can watch very often, it is just too much to take in.
