Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by David U — 15 Nov 2011
A heartstopper. Meryl Streep is unfaultable and is greatly complimented by Kevin Kline and Peter MacNicol. The three actors and their portrayal of such a heartwrenching story will suck you in in all the right places.
The balance between emotion in this film is really well played; to have such an intense plot lightened by humour is very well handled and delivered on screen to create one of the most emotional films I have ever seen, yet allows me to walk away without a complete overhaul of depression.
Hats off to Alan Pakula for this one.
