Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by Bradley H — 14 Aug 2012
I saw this film over the weekend for the second time, I originally saw it when it first came out ( yes, I'm that old ) I was so traumatized by the film, that I quickly bought the book by Styron, upon which the film was based on.
Of course the book went on into deeper details not shown in film that left me more disturbed than ever. 30 years later after the film first came out, as history always repeats itself, we are still experiencing human cruelty against each other and it seems to be getting worst and worst and from the news I'm reading right now, tomorrow is only looking bleaker.
The only thing that gives me hope is Emily Dickinson's poem, which I had forgotten it was in the film "Ample Make This Bed". Animals don't do these horrible things to each other, except for the Darwin's reason for survival, so why do we keep doing it to each other?
