Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by Dmb M — 10 Mar 2010
This was the film that made me realize that Meryl Streep was the greatest actor ever. She rightfully took the Oscar that year (1983) - the last year she would see one (thusfar.) But I should not digress on a rant about the Academy shafting Meryl.
This film is riveting - sometimes glamorous and, other times, full of despair. Violent, dramatic, dark, passionate - I may always consider it my favorite novel-to-film adaptation. Kevin Kline busted right through the door in this, his film debut.
