Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by Yili S — 14 Feb 2009
It's been so long since I saw this, it was on TV the other night so I figured I'd revisit it. Well, Streep is indeed amazing in this, a well deserved Best Actress Oscar, but the film is over long, the narration doesn't need to be there, and the "present day" story could have been more interesting or at least shortened.
But the flashback scenes are very well done, of course the "choice" is very powerful and difficult to watch. It's also got a very nice score. Good film.
