Review of Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) by John M — 19 Sep 2009
I am glad I knew little about this story before seeing the film. Dialogue-driven, the lack of scoring lends the piece an austerity that heightens its suspense. The complexities of Alexander Held's character (interrogator Mohr) keep you wondering where the plot is going.
The ending is hard to shake. Though it's a period piece, it feels timeless and leaves you thinking about its current relevance in multiple contexts.
