Review of Songs from the Second Floor (2000) by Alicia C — 22 Aug 2007
I appreciate the sentiments of Ray Andersson; but I'm going to have to be honest here and said I disliked it and contemplated walking out halfway. Long, draggy and incoherent, this film doesn't so much invite meditation on corrupt capitalism as it does thoughts of what's for dinner.
I'll give points for its minimalistic (but bland) cinematography, which invities broader examination of screen detail; but ultimately it isn't much use as one struggles through the plodding and monotonous storyline, if it can even be called that.
