Review of Songs from the Second Floor (2000) by Kalle V — 05 Sep 2007
Roy andersson's Songs From the Second Floor is probably one of the best movies this decade. It's an absurd comedy of people's subjective failures in a totally cold and apathetic community. The film jeers both the gray voidness of a middle class way of living and the idealistic thought of art's capacity to empower or cognizate people.
The film is the most hilarious flick you'll ever come up with but at the same time it's also one of the darkest and most anxious ones. The narration goes very well in the line with the themes being quite slow though bouncing and extremely surreal.
Everyone ought to see this film. As a word of caution though: do not watch it when having a hangover.
