Review of Song of the South (1946) by Jordan L — 24 Mar 2011
Although today it may be precieved as politically incorrect, it's a piece of history and not only that it's a Disney Masterpiece. Myself I recently encountered the movie on youtube in small segments each of parts 1-10, partly due to it not being released in the U.
S. I believe it should be released on DVD or Blu-ray becuase it is a masterpiece. It makes history as the first movie with both animation and live action together and It's the first to have an African American actor James Baskett, when an academy award.
As an African American and an aspiring actor thats very moving and this movie has a special place in my heart for that, although some scene's in this movie are slightly insensitive in today's standards I still think they should release it, I mean if Warner Bros.
are releasing the censored 11 which in my oppinion is way worse then this movie and Birth of a Nation has been out on DVD for sometime(which in my oppinion is horrible and very insensitve). I think this movie should be released.
