Review of Son of Frankenstein (1939) by Andrew F — 04 Oct 2007
While just about anything is gonna be a letdown after Bride of Frankenstein, this an underrated but unnecessary sequel. Karloff is back as the monster for the last time, and he's surrounded by other classic screen bad guys like Lugosi and Basil Rathbone.
It's certainly cool to see all these creepy guys acting opposite each other, and the story's pretty entertaining. It just lacks that extra artistic flair that Whale brought to the first two.
