Review of Son of Frankenstein (1939) by Private U — 22 Jun 2007
This has always been my favourite Frankenstein film. I love the art-deco meets gothic production design, but it's the acting that makes this so one enjoyable. Basil Rathbone and Lionel Atwill are in top form; Karloff has never been more frightening as the monster; and Lugosi gives the best performance of his carreer as Ygor. Anyone who thinks Bela Lugosi couldn't act should see his work here: your opinion will be changed.
A classic.
