Review of Somewhere in Time (1980) by Ali S — 18 Sep 2012
It is quite enjoyable to watch old movies. There's a certain charm to the way they were made. So much depended on the story as opposed to visual effects and it is refreshing to have them in my reportoire.
Somewhere in Time really showcases Christopher Reeve who does a great job in his role. Whenever you have time travel in any movie pre-1990s, it is usually a little hokey. This is definitely the case with this film. Those bits almost made me laugh out loud (and they were meant to be serious). However, it is the love story that really matters here. There is great chemistry between Jane Seymour and Reeve.
The story is definitely interesting although some of the details were difficult to sort out in one's mind and some were inconsistent with the time travel premise. In any case, it's fun to watch. (Except for the very end which was just odd.).
