Review of Somewhere (2010) by Sari S — 01 May 2011
Imagine Lost In Translation where the Bill Murray character and his life are both very boring (no wit or charm to be had like in the Murray character). Now take about 7 years off the two main characters' ages, and there you have this story, a watered down Lost in Translation that was more or less a snooze fest.
I really wanted to like this movie. It seemed to have potential from the trailer, but from the scene at the beginning where we watch the main character drive his sports car in a circle for about 2 minutes to the closing credits, I was just bored most of the time.
I suppose there were a few moments, like when the girl was doing her ice skating routine, that there seemed to be a glimmer of hope that the movie might pick up, but in the end, it never really got off the ground.
I would have rather been doing something else.
