Review of Something's Gotta Give (2003) by Jessica P — 15 Jun 2009
"After a heart attack, rule of thumb is: If you can climb a flight of stairs, you can have sex." Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) is a 63 year old bachelor who never dates women over 30. Marin (Amanda Peet) is his latest infatuation.
They went over to Marin's mom's house at the Hamptons for a romantic weekend under the presumption that her mom and aunt isn't there. This is how Harry met Erica Barry (Diane Keaton), Marin's mom, a successful playwright currently in the process of writing a new play.
When Marin and Harry was fooling around, Harry had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. This is where Erica met Dr. Julian Mercer (Keanu Reeves), Harry's doctor who advised him to stay at Erica's in the meantime for he can't be allowed to travel yet.
Julian fancies Erica. Marin gave way for her mom and Harry. Erica falls in love with Harry. Harry? Well, he needs to retrace his steps first. Something new. A love story of the old for all ages. Very amusing.
Spectacular acting from Jack Nicholson. Diane Keaton might be over the top at this. Directed by Nancy Meyers.
