Review of Something the Lord Made (2004) by Tiffany F — 16 Aug 2008
After watching such a truly significant story I am forever humbled. What Dr. Alfred Blalock (Alan Rickman) and Vivian Thomas (Mos Def) achieved during a period of racism from societal pressures is outstanding.
Managing to perform one of the first heart surgeries ever in the 30s and40s and to have a Vivian Thomas, a black man, who had never went to medical school to be there from the beginning. The fact that he didnâ??t get proper credit or recognition through much of his whole life is simply inspiring.
The cast did a wonderful job; they embraced their characters well. This is defiantly well worth the Emmy. Remarkable job done.
