Review of Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap (2012) by Morgan Y — 23 Sep 2012
Fails to capture the zeitgeist of hip-hop, but does manage to demonstrate the pompousness of rap vocalists. Little time is spent with producers or beat-makers, other than Dr. Dre and Bombaataa. Some of the freestyles and memories are worth a YouTube browse, but other than that, it plays more like a "Where Are They Now?" of outdated gangster-isms from Rap City if the program were still around.
