Review of Something Evil (1972) by Brett B — 19 Sep 2013
A "movie of the week" television chiller from the early 1970s directed by Steven Spielberg (!). It's very much of its time, though Sandy Dennis and Darren McGavin have a nice, easy chemistry, and Spielberg's fingerprints can definitely be felt in the shot composition and the rhythm of the editing.
There are a couple of effectively creepy moments, but overall, the plot doesn't hold up particularly well. It's a curiosity more than anything else, but it's certainly interesting and worth a look for fans of Spielberg.
