Review of Somersault (2004) by Marvin H — 22 Jun 2007
There's a lot to enjoy in this movie - the opening moments have a reall hook, some of it's wonderfully shot, some of the character details are superb, and Abbie Cornish is across the board compellingly fantastic BUT it all kind of faded away into for it's own sake art house dreariness.
Neither saying much, evoking much or adding up to really anything. Still an impressive feature debut... why has Cate Shortland not done another movie?
