Review of Somersault (2004) by Kristin T — 19 Aug 2008
This would get 6 and a half stars from me in a 10 star system.
This strange film set in the snow towns of Australia had a compelling quality about it that was intriguing. A Campionesque representation of Aussie life complete with surreal colours and beautiful scenery. Under age nymphos, country bumpkins, a sensitive new age boyfriend with homo tendencies and other diverse characters made it a welcome relief from regular shoot em ups and high action movies that seem to abound these days. Despite the fact that the story seemed to revolve around the lead girls intent to root her way through Thredbo, it had some good moments and sub plots.
