Review of Somersault (2004) by Andrew S — 25 May 2009
I'm really becoming a fan of Abbie Cornish she is a really strong young actress. She gives an outstanding performance in this low key drama. Two things I really liked were the cinematography especially the contrast they developed the exterior scenes were really cold and harsh and the interior very warm and welcoming they really used they lighting well to move the story along.
The transition's were really interesting too. They felt flawless and flowed perfectly into the story. I liked how the film started off pretty much right in the first 5mins it didn't take long before they threw the curveball at you.
I thought Sam Worthington was really good too. I only seen him in Terminator Salvation and well playing a killing machine you don't really get to showcase your emotional side. But he really impressed me in this role.
Although the subplot of him maybe being bi-sexual was really random and undeveloped.
