Review of Somers Town (2008) by David S — 08 Oct 2008
Sweet little film, very slight (only 72 mins long), but enjoyable nonetheless. Good performances from the two young lead actors (Shane Meadows uses the same kid he had in 'This is England'). Refreshingly low-key, with a nice subtle sensitivity and humour often missing from mainstream films.
Again (saw it at local Arthouse cinema), definitely not a film I'd recommend for the occasional cinemagoer, as it's not 'Friday night popcorn fare'.However, a surprisingly good film, for what should essentially be a 'short'.
