Review of Somers Town (2008) by Geir F — 13 Apr 2009
Somers Town is not really much of a movie, at least not in terms of plot. More of a situation report, or a tiny slice of life, really - with a great soundtrack. Thomas Turgoose plays a runaway kid who comes to London, and basically offers up more of the same kind of (excellent) acting he delivered in This is England.
The other actors are fine, if not exactly stellar. Lensing and editing is great, as is the direction, but in the end it doesn't really amount to much more than a mildly bittersweet diversion.
