Review of Some Like It Hot (1959) by Kurtis E — 12 Mar 2010
When it comes to the best films of each genre of all time, there would be no doubt that this 1959 hit would be winner of "Best Comedy of All Time." The film is bursting with class, class that elevates the film to glamorous proportions and shows that nothing can ever out-do the classics.
What makes this film so memorable is it's script. The script uses intelligent humor, and rarely lowers itself to cheap jokes that are over used in modern day comedies. Having the legendary Billy Wilder as screenwriter and director, an audience would expect nothing less than a golden laugh filled picture.
Nothing is more sexually and aesthetically beautiful as Marilyn Monroe's performance as Sugar; the ukulele playing beauty, who brings out some (if not most) of the best lines in the film. Along with her looks and charm on screen, it is fair to say Some Like It Hot is her best picture.
