Review of Some Like It Hot (1959) by Patrick M — 09 Sep 2012
An inventive, comedic farce starring Jack Lemmon, Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis about two male musicians who witness a murder and are forced to disguise themselves as females and join an all girl orchestra as "Josephine" and the lovely "Daphne".
Ingeniously written, the three main stars are all acting at their very best, making this classic cross-dressing comedy daring and fun. Jack Lemmon as Daphne is a hilarious turn, and Joe E. Brown's Osgood Fielding falls head over heels for him/her.
Marilyn Monroe in her best role, smiling innocently and flirting unknowingly, and having great one-liners such as "I always get the fuzzy end of the lollipop!" Tony Curtis gets the girl every 50's man wanted, with such feminine situations.
An absolute gem of a film.
