Review of Some Like It Hot (1959) by Andy S — 27 Jan 2018
What a fantastic opening! All the action and stunts with the cars. I love the whole hidden metaphor with the liquor in the funeral casket, meaning that liquor kills. Unbelievable how they hide a whole night club in a funeral parlor. Kind of indecent and rude but really clever and very cynical. Really tight operation this mob is pulling off.
Damn, when Marilyn Monroe walked in, the whole mood changed. She's a wildfire man, wow. Se's so lovely and charming in this movie. The body on that woman is unfathomable. She's so seductive and sexy without even trying, it's ridiculous. That Tony Curtis is one lucky bastard; John F. Kennedy too. Boom!
What a horrible tease that would be to have to fake being a chick, meanwhile being surrounded by beautiful women and you can't do anything with them. That hotel when they get to Miami is majestic almost like a castle.
Funny how the guys keep getting hit on by other guys who think they're really girls. The cast of characters in this movie are really great funny, loose, they get comedy. That yacht kissing scene was pretty sexy and steamy, I'll tell ya. What a great ending! "Well, nobody's perfect." The old man was bisexual the whole time! Hahaha! This movie I bet was really controversial for it's time. You got crossdressing, lesbianism, bisexuality. This movie probably opened up a whole new can of worms when it came out.
Overall, really fun and entertaining movie to watch with a lot of quotable and really funny lines. Marilyn Monroe is as sexy as ever and Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis were hilarious. Great movie!
