Review of Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) by Quinto W — 08 Aug 2009
It's basically a remake of director Howard Deutch and screenwriter John Huges' previous collaboration, Pretty in Pink, but with the original ending that they wanted. The cast is amazing, especially Mary Stuart Masterons, who not only looks beautiful, but her longing for Eric Stoltz is sweet and painful.
I was most surprised, too, by how layered Lea Thompson's character was; she's not just a typical high school bimbo with lots of friends, but you get to see many sides to her character that were not often shown in teen movies for that kind of clique in the 1980's.
