Review of Solomon Kane (2009) by Vincent B — 27 Aug 2010
In my opinion this film has much in common with the historical period horror films of the 60's and 70's, such films as 'Witchfinder General' 'Blood on Satan's Claw' and 'The Devils'. The film is highly enjoyable with some genuine scenes of horror, for example the zombie horde hiding in the church catacombs. Jame Purefoy does a solid take of the Puritan swordsman; though judging by his accent he wasn't sure whether he was from Devon, Somerset or Dorset.
Hopefully, should they do a sequel they'll adapt one of the stories written by Robert Howard. A film adaptation of 'Hills of the Dead' would be brilliant.
