Review of Solomon Kane (2009) by Henry O — 11 Mar 2011
Solomon Kane is medieval gone popcorn movie, a brilliant mix.
Pros: Great acting (partically from James Purefoy), A dark, gloomy style, great fast paced storyline, brilliant score, stylish and slashy sword fighting, extremely epic in nearly all ways.
Cons: CGI monster at the end kind of diminishes some of the gloominess.
On a budget of $40 million, It was a shame that it didn't get a wide theatrical release. In Australia, it was a direct to dvd. Shame because this movie could of become a moderate hit and possibly of became the next great medival franchise.
Final Thoughts: Solomon Kane is a mini epic with something for all action fans to enjoy.
