Review of Solomon and Sheba (1959) by Matt R — 18 Sep 2009
Luscious Freddie Young cinematography and some epic scenes save this biblical drama from being a bit of a bore. The first two acts are a bit dull, but not too bad. In the third act things heat up and the climactic scene in which the Egyptian army disappears into a canyon is great.
Nowhere near the class of Ben-Hur which was released in the same year, but worth a look if you're into biblical epics.
