Review of Solomon and Sheba (1959) by Bob V — 21 Nov 2010
Taking quite a leap with the Biblical story of King Solomon & the Queen of Sheba, it's all fun enough, with Lollobrigida's heavy accent and sensuous purring, and Yul Brynner still with hair on his head. The pagan orgy scene looks rather tame now, but was terribly licentious for its time, and because if the ominously primal & sexual musical score during the scene, it still oozes naughtiness and works very effectively.
It's not "The Ten Commandments", but a lot of people will probably prefer this fluffier 'Bible story'.
