This film is thoroughly and authentically places within the culture and lore of Star Wars. Unlike Ep VIII it dies not exist to trash the characters with the Star Wars world, instead it highlights all thatcis good about the original trilogy.
Like Rogue One, there are constant nods to the original trilogy but they do not in any way get in the way of the story. But this film feels more like an Indiana Jones film in its mix of adventure, chases, action and pathos.
Overall, a film for non Star Wars fans to enjoy and for Star Wars geeks to bathe in and enjoy. Forget the Last Jedi, this film proves that staying true to the values of Eps 4-6 is what makes Star Wars work.
