Much like the franchises other Star Wars story, Rogue One, Solo proves to be a fun time with great action and amazing VFX/ practical effects. The film is let down however by its hollow supporting characters and a 100 mile an hour story.

While the end of this movie will leave you feeling surprised and excited as Rogue One did, with also great faith in having Chewie and Han come back for another adventure, it is very much for fans and hardcore fans at at that.

My main point is if Lucas Film is take make these spin offs work they need to be more ambitious with their style, casting and music! Throughout the movie I yearned for the cool rock, western vibe we had from the trailers, but unfortunately got generic star wars adventure music.

Woody Haroldson, Emelia Clarke and Thandie Newton all prove to be far too distracting as actors while Alden Erenreich's charm and charisma does shine and makes a great dynamic for Chewie played well by Joonas Suatamo.

The action is fun, with inventive sets, creatures and action pieces, just a shame not all the pieces were there for an even more daring film with poor character choices and not even dialogue to go around.
