Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by S H — 31 Dec 2018

Did not see this when it came out so as to not support Lucasfilm after the terrible Last Jedi. Did not like TLJ because of the really poor story telling. Was given the Solo movie as a gift. Watched it begrudgingly.

Was surprised how good it was. The Kasdans have drafted a story that is entertaining. It introduces and develops several new characters. The acting is great all the way around. How do you replace Harrison Ford, and yet, Alden does a great job.

It has the feel of the first Star Wars-an exciting old time Saturday morning adventure. It is a fun ride. It is not a deep movie, but there are some interesting ideas beneath the service as to the characters that add a depth to it if you want to ponder it.

I canï¿ 1/2(TM)t help but think the reaction to this movie would be very different if it was not saddled with the baggage provided by The Last Jedi. I hope this film gets another chance.
