Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Glen G — 14 Nov 2018

After hearing all the bad press I waited to see until I could rent it. I was pleasantly surprised to find it to be better than I expected, though not as good as most of the canon star wars movies.

Good Points:

1. F/X are great as are the action scenes. Very entertaining.

2. Music is not overly inspired but it's not bad. They pull a lot of John Williams old stuff into it.

3. The overall plot is good and seems to fit well with Star Wars lore.

4. Most of the acting is good.

5. Chewie and Lando were enjoyable to watch.

Neutral point:

1. Alden Ehrenreich tries but he's no Harrison Ford. He's not horrible, he's simply alright.

Bad bits:

1. The film seems a bit rushed at times as far as pacing/editing goes but considering Ron Howard had to salvage the film and reshoot a lot I understand why.

2.L337 is actually not as annoying as I feared, especially since it's killed off early on. Still kind of a stock liberal stomping post but whatever.

3. Like many of the recent Disney Star Wars flicks, this one fails to feel as grand, epic and mesmerizing as past entries.

Overall I'd say give this one a shot if you haven't seen it yet. While definitely not the best of the saga, It's not nearly as bad as The Last Jedi and is certainly rewatchable and enjoyable.
