Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Kristoffer K — 23 Jun 2018
What a total bore of a movie and a complete disappointment. Not a single performance was engaging or convincing. And that's saying something considering the amount of talent on the screen. Maybe it's the fault of the script, I don't know.
Alden probably would have excelled had he been cast in an original role vs. having to live up to Harrison Ford's iconic portrayal of Solo. The same could probably be said about Donald's performance.
Woody portrayed a type of character we've seen thousands of other times before. Emilia's character was lifeless and I can't help but think she looks like a 13-year-old trying to play an adult character.
Regarding the storyline, it was cliche and not one single moment was suspenseful, surprising, pleasing, emotional, intense, or witty. The only standout scene was when Lando realized he didn't have his cards up his sleeve.
That's it.
