Review of Solitary Man (2009) by Agustín S — 29 Aug 2010
First of all let me say that no one has a more heightened sexual apetite than Michael Douglas. Growing up I remember the countless times I had to cover my eyes at watching Basic Instinct and Full Disclosure when I was young.
I would probably have to say that this film is Michael Douglas playing.....well Michael Douglas. A self loathing suave jerk who's life is going downhill. He plays a former car dealer who deals with issues in his life, he has some form of cancer, relationship issues with his former wife, children also his girlfreind and his girlfriend's daughter (U just have to see it to understand it.
) In a way this film looks like a great tragedy, once the man who has had it all, has nothing. I was happy to see Danny Devitio in the pic (as Douglas's freind), they always have had great chemistry in films.
There scenes show off a really authentic freindship. Great performances by Douglas (as always), it is an interesting film to watch about a man's life on the skids.
