Review of Solitary Man (2009) by Paul L — 27 May 2011
Plenty of drama, not much comedy. Treat everyone like crap and you risk dying alone. I think we knew that. This little-heralded indie film struggles with a thin plot and an underdeveloped screenplay, but Michael Douglas, Mary-Louise Parker, Jenna Fischer, Imogen Poots, Susan Sarendon, Jesse Eisenberg (obviously getting into the part for Social Network) and ast but not least Danny DeVito reel off a string of great performances and make this a film worth watching.
Johnny Cash's rendition of Neil Diamond's classic song in the title sequence is almost unimaginably bad.
