Review of Solitary Man (2009) by Eli R — 17 Dec 2011
Worth seeing for Douglas, one of his best performances. The fantastic cast around him is sadly wasted though. You have to admire how Koppelman and Levien don't make Douglas the fun loving womanizer that every other film would have.
Instead with nearly ever laugh Douglas gets they follow it up with a scene of him being borderline disgusting. A similar and ultimately better film to compare this to is Roger Dodger. That film contains the edge and rawness 'Solitary Man' is ultimately lacking.
