Review of Soldiers of Fortune (2012) by Steven B — 06 Aug 2012
Worst movie of the year? Who knows as yet, but it's in contention. Went to The Old Geezers Who Go To The Matinee Alone showing and me and popcorn guy were the only ones who showed up. I'm not sure why this movie got made or why such a big name cast signed on other than for the money.
The film was made, it seems, somewhere in Europe and has little in the way of production values, story, plot, or, sadly, acting. There is a lot of slow motion killing and general blowing up of things.
The female lead Oksana Korostyshevskaya (or Oxana, the spelling seems to change) has only made a couple of other poorly known European movies and the director, Maxim Korostyshevsky, might be her husband? or something.
It is his first movie and hopefully his last. No-one in this movie seemed to be interested in doing much more than saying their lines and getting their money. I've often wondered why Christian Slater didn't become a big star and maybe taking roles like this is one of the reasons.
You can easily pass this dog with no regrets.
