Review of Soldier's Girl (2003) by Kandis A — 25 Jun 2014
^^Actually, make that 3+1/2 stars...^^.
Surprised to learn it didn't have a theatrical release (apparently a Showtime original made for TV) as it certainly could have engendered* some decent ticket sales & staying power in the indie movie theaters...!
Anywho, it's a well-acted account of a true story that's only flaw, in my book, was the leap of belief we're supposed to have at this good ol' Southern boy treating this particular actor/actress as a cistrans woman rather than the in-transition MtF that she plays. Well, that and the VoiceOver narration by the same actor/ress which again constantly reminded me I was watching a "soldier's boy-to-girl" rather than just "girl".
* pun sadly intentioned ;-).
