Review of Soldier of Orange (1977) by Ian G — 17 Oct 2007
A spectacular WWII epic that focuses on an angle (Dutch, with all that that implies) not often seen in films. The people in this film aren't heroes or villains; they lie, they cheat, they commit adultery.
.. in short, the WWII film about the people in the path of destruction rather than those creating the chaos. Powerful and underrated, this is Verhoeven's masterpiece.
