Review of Soldier of Orange (1977) by Hunter W — 14 Jul 2007
Before Black Book, there was this powerful WWII epic about the Dutch on the defensive. Rutger Hauer turns in a career defining performance, in which he speaks both dutch and english. The central friendship of this film is quite palpable, and it provides a powerful look at patriotism, and pride, and how people may be inclined to fight for their homeland.
One of the most under-rated, less known WWII films, finished off with a very cozy, and very triumphant atmosphere of celebration.
