Review of S.O.B. (1981) by Christopher B — 11 Jul 2008
From the first half of a killer double feature I caught at Lincoln Center tonight comes the best Hollywood satire in widescreen courtesy of comedy master Blake Edwards with a big cast, which is best to see on a big screen and does itself a justice by listing none of the actors at the start so the audience can be surprised to see which faces pop up.
Great performances and set pieces make for a Hollywood tale that is still relevant today and always will be. Proof positive that sometimes misunderstood movies of one time can become classics later on given enough shifting and appreciation which this film has earned throughout the years.
I loved it the first time I had seen it, and getting to see it on the big screen has made me forever a fan and appreciator of this comic diamond in the rough.
