Review of Snowpiercer (2013) by Tanis M — 04 Jan 2016
I started watching this and within the first little while they're punishing a guy by sticking his arm out of the train into the cold to freeze it and smash it off. Holy shit, this is going to be intense!
But then the movie gradually begins to unwind the more it goes on, until eventually it completely veers off a cliff (literally and figuratively) at the end with a bunch of attempted philosophizing that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and an ending that almost 99.9% guarantees that everyone dies and nobody goes home happy. I suppose if you're one of those misanthropic types that appreciates the idea of the extinction of the human race, it might appeal to you, but I'm definitely not that sort.
In the end, a disappointment, which is a shame considering how much the introduction pulled me in.
