Snowpeircer is the answer to those tired of your average effects-driven action movie. Its ambitious look at a future riddled by the effects of global warming, tyrannical social-class segregation, and confined to a train draws heavily from political dystopian films such as Soylent Green and Logan's Run, but maintains a gritty, harsh, realism that is not abundant in most sci-fi blockbusters.
It also boasts a tremendous cast from John Hurt to Octavia Spencer and Tilda Swinton.
