Review of Snowpiercer (2013) by Blake C — 13 Mar 2015
A really surprisingly fresh take on apocalyptic movies. Quite brutal in parts. Really dwells on the fundamental animalistic nature of humans, especially those who are ignorant and stupid. The acting in brilliant all around.
There's one problem with the movie: the premise of the train and the social structure of its population is naive and right out of pulp scifi of the 50s. And, unfortunately, the brilliance of the movie just perpetuates tropes about social engineering that just aren't true.
Quite frankly, this movie would have probably worked better as anime than as live-action.
