Review of Snowman (2015) by Mike K — 10 Dec 2008
The definative Christmas movie. (Even if it falls short of 26 minutes!) The composition by Howard Blake was top notch and the animation worked so well, especially the panning across the landscapes and hills.
All hand-drawn which is rare to see these days in animation. I have to watch it every Christmas, never tire of it and definately a masterpiece in my opinion. The only point i'm glad Briggs improved was the Father Christmas design.
It looked very unfinished in this one and looked so much better in the Mel Smith version. The ending still has a sadness to it and it's weird thinking this was one of Channel 4's first screenings on it's airing in 1982.
Timeless classic.
