Review of Snowman (2015) by Patricia W — 03 Dec 2017
Based on the book by Raymond Briggs, The Snowman is about a young boy who builds a snowman on Christmas Eve that magically comes to life.
This is a classic Christmas film and is enjoyable to watch whether you're a child or an adult. The drawing style is very charming and the musical score really brings the story to life without the need for any dialogue. The plot is very well executed and portrayed simply through the use of pictures and music and has a great simplicity about it whilst also conjuring up a lot of different emotions.
The most iconic scene is of course when the little boy and the snowman go flying through the air to the song, 'Walking in the air' which is quite beautiful.
Although the ending is quite melancholy and the animation may not have aged all that well, this is a lovely Christmas film that has stood the test of time and I happily watch it once a year.
