Review of Snow Falling on Cedars (1999) by Jim S — 08 Jan 2011
A murder trial sets the stage for this very good film which explores the nature of unrequited love and racial prejudice, set in post WWII Washington State, as it examines the US policy on Japanese internment camps, and the human effect of those policies. Von Sydow is great as the defense atty. This film delivers visually as well, with some outright beautiful scenes.
One error: The lighthouse scene. That lighthouse is in Portland, Maine.
