Review of Snow Falling on Cedars (1999) by Mark S — 30 Dec 2011
An excellently atmospheric, beautifully shot film. There didn't really have to be much happening in terms of plot and dialogue the film was so good to look at. This does have a simple story to it with little dialogue from the lead character - the least I've seen since watching Montgomery Clift in Hitchcock's I Confess - but the story is a moving tale of unrequited love and the performances and direction are of such a high quality that there isn't much need for dialogue for the feelings on display to register.
